1997年、コルシカ島にあるフェッシュ美術館での個展を機に、1998年からコルシカ島に拠点を移した。2000年にフランス政府から芸術文化勲章を受賞し、2003年にレジオン・ドヌール勲章を受けた。
その後も作品の制作活動を行い、2010年の「No more Nagasaki」はナガサキ原爆に触れた深い感情を表現したもので、2011-2012年にはホープジャパンをテーマとした絵画シリーズを作っている。さらに、2012年に大和魂というテーマで描いた作品も作っている。
松井守男は、2022年5月30日に虹が丘病院で亡くなりました（享年79歳）。

Morio Matsui is a Japanese painter based in Paris, France. His family was a fishmonger, and he belonged to the art club in high school, but after his second Ronin, he entered Musashino Art University, graduated at the top of his class in 1967, and left for Paris.
In Paris, he studied drawing again at the Académie Julien and the Paris National School of Fine Arts, but struggled to establish himself as a painter.
