**A moving picture book written by a wildlife lover who grew up in contact with nature**
Hiroshi Abe is a Japanese picture book author. Born in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido. Since childhood, he was good at playing outdoors and painting. When he was in middle school, he wanted to join the baseball club, but because the number of students was from the baby boom generation, he gave up and joined the chorus club. After that, he worked as a zookeeper at Asahiyama Zoo in Asahikawa City for 25 years starting at the age of 23. While on duty, the zookeepers discussed the dream of creating a behavioral exhibit, which they captured in a painting, which became the key to Asahiyama Zoo's revival. I worked with many animals, but the one I loved most was the otter. The impetus for writing the picture book was a request from Fukuinkan Shoten after the illustrations he contributed to Asahiyama Zoo's magazine and a local town magazine were well-received.
