無藤隆は、教育学者として知られている。保育や心理学の分野が専門で、政府の審議会や調査研究会では座長などを務めている。東京大学時代から東大出身の汐見稔幸が学長に就くと、それまで白梅学園大学学長だった無藤は同大学の教授として引き続き在籍した。後に、2009年に発達臨床学科で専任となった。2017年には定年退職となり特任教授になり、その後2020年に同大学院客員教授となり、2025年に瑞宝中綬章を受章した。
