Ellery Queen is an American mystery writer and editor. In Hayakawa Shobo, it is written as "Ellery Queen". Danay and Lee are pen names used for writing detective novels.
They created the work through a collaborative process, with Danay devising plots and tricks that were then passed on to Lee and discussed. Their creative method was to compensate for the weaknesses of Danay, who is a genius at coming up with plots but is bad at writing, and Lee, who is good at writing but can't create plots.
The works they created, from the Countryside series to the Drury Lane trilogy, are highly regarded as authentic detective novels. Their representative works include ``The Mystery of the Roman Hat'' and ``The Tragedy of Y.''
