After dropping out of the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Letters, Hokkaido University, he worked in various jobs, including working as a civil engineering worker and pasting up posters. After that, he entered Otaru University of Commerce, but was expelled after a short period of time, and also dropped out of Hokkaido University. After that, after working as an editor for a town magazine, he started contributing novels to ``Northern Literature.''
In 1987, he published ``The Man Who Came to Meet Me,'' and in 1992, he made his debut as a writer with ``The Detective Is in a Bar.''
