Professor emeritus at Kyoto University. We would like to introduce Mr. Akihiko Akamatsu, who was active in various fields as a scholar of Indian literature.
Akihiko Akamatsu was born in 1953 and is a scholar of Indian literature who graduated from Kyoto University. He graduated from the Department of Philosophy with a major in the History of Indian Philosophy and received his PhD from the University of Paris III. After returning to Japan, he became an assistant at the Institute of Humanities at Kyoto University, then an assistant professor at Kyushu University, and a professor at Kyoto University in 2001. Furthermore, in 2018, he became a professor emeritus at Kyoto University, and currently serves as the director of the Hakubi Center, where he strives to foster young researchers.
