Gege Akutami is a Japanese manga artist. His most famous work is Jujutsu Kaisen.
He has been a regular reader of Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) since he was a boy, and was especially a big fan of the long-running series BLEACH. At his new school, he had a classmate who loved Jump, and while drawing with the group, he began to realize his dream of becoming a manga artist (around 5th grade).
After that, he continued to draw manga as an amateur, but after graduating from high school, he aspired to become a professional manga artist. There were two options for submitting the work: ``Weekly Shonen Jap'' or ``Monthly Afternoon'' (Kodansha), but he chose Jump, which he was familiar with, and has continued his relationship with Shueisha ever since.
In 2017, "Tokyo Metropolitan College of Jujutsu" was serialized in "Jump GIGA". The following year, 2018, ``Jujutsu Kaisen'' began serialization in ``Weekly Shonen Jap''. In 2024, the series ended after about 6 and a half years.
