ペンネームの由来は、力道山をスカウトしたレスラー「ハロルド坂田」からきている。ゴリラーマン連載時に、このペンネームを使用したところ、当時編集長から「ハロルドは言いにくい、作石も言いにくい。」と言われる。またケンドーコバヤシとの対談では、芸名の由来が同じくレスラーであることから感銘を受けている。
初長編『ゴリラーマン』はオフビートなユーモアと、シリアスな展開の混在を特徴とした作品であったが、第2作『サバンナのハイエナ』でアメリカン・カートゥーン系の絵柄に変えて、作風を大幅に変更した。その実験精神はいしかわじゅんにも高評価されたが、『サバンナのハイエナ』は連載途中で中断した。

Harold Sakuishi (born March 16, 1969) is a Japanese manga artist. Blood type AB. Real name: Takahiro Sakuishi. Graduated from Aichi Prefectural Moriyama High School. Moriyama High School is the model for Hakubu High School, the setting for ``Gorilla Man.''
The origin of his pen name comes from Harold Sakata, a wrestler who scouted Rikidozan. When he used this pen name when serializing Gorillaman, the editor-in-chief at the time told him, ``It's hard to say Harold, and it's hard to say Sakuishi.'' Also, in a conversation with Kendo Kobayashi, he was impressed because his stage name also comes from a wrestler.
His first feature, ``Gorilla Man,'' was characterized by a mixture of offbeat humor and serious developments, but in his second work, ``Savannah Hyenas,'' he changed his style to an American cartoon style and drastically changed his style.
