安彦良和は1947年に北海道の遠軽町で生まれた。父は東社名淵のハッカ作りの代表格であり、1938年から1942年まで町会議員もつとめたという。幼いころから漫画に興味を持ち、小学校3年生のときには鈴木光明の『織田信長』に惹かれていた。
経歴
遠軽高校、弘前大学（退学処分）を経て、1970年に虫プロ養成所に入り、アニメーターとなる。虫プロ倒産後はフリーとなり、『宇宙戦艦ヤマト』や『勇者ライディーン』などのアニメ作品に携わる。
1990年以降、アニメ製作現場を離れて専業漫画家となり、歴史ものを描いて第19回日本漫画家協会賞優秀賞（『ナムジ』）、第4回文化庁メディア芸術祭マンガ部門優秀賞（『王道の狗』）などを受賞した。

Born and raised
Yoshikazu Yasuhiko was born in Engaru, Hokkaido in 1947. His father was a leading mint grower in Meibuchi, Tosha, and was also a member of the town council from 1938 to 1942. He has been interested in manga since he was young, and when he was in the third grade of elementary school, he was drawn to Mitsuaki Suzuki's ``Oda Nobunaga.''

After attending Engaru High School and Hirosaki University (for which he was expelled), he entered Mushi Production Training School in 1970 and became an animator.
