**「言葉の美しさを伝え続ける先駆者」**
金田一秀穂は、日本の言語学者。専門分野は日本語教育、言語行動、意味論。杏林大学外国語学部名誉教授、政策研究大学院大学客員教授。また、山梨県立図書館の館長を務めている。
東京都杉並区生まれの上智大学卒業後、就職せずに読書生活を送り、外国への留学を志すようになる。1983年には東京外国語大学大学院で日本語学を専攻し、その後、大連外国語学院やハーバード大学客員研究員などを経て杏林大学教授に就任。
2002年頃からメディアへの出演が増え、テレビ番組「なまり亭」では判定係として知名度を上げた。日本語の魅力を広く伝えるために活動している。また、「すぎなみ地域大学」の3代目学長にも就任した。

祖父は言語学者・金田一京助、父は国語学者・金田一春彦、姉はゴルフライターの田中美奈子。兄はロシア語学者の金田一真澄。

**"A pioneer who continues to convey the beauty of words"**
Hideho Kindaichi is a Japanese linguist. His areas of expertise are Japanese language education, linguistic behavior, and semantics. Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Foreign Studies at Kyorin University and Visiting Professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies. He also serves as the director of the Yamanashi Prefectural Library.
Born in Suginami Ward, Tokyo, after graduating from Sophia University, he spent his life reading instead of finding a job, and began to aspire to study abroad. In 1983, he majored in Japanese language at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies Graduate School, and then served as a visiting researcher at the Dalian Institute of Foreign Studies and Harvard University before becoming a professor at Kyorin University.
From around 2002, his appearances in the media increased, and he gained recognition as a judge on the TV program ``Namaritei.'' We are working to spread the appeal of the Japanese language. He also became the third president of Suginami Regional University.

Her grandfather is Kyosuke Kindaichi, a linguist, her father is Haruhiko Kindaichi, a Japanese linguist, and her older sister is Minako Tanaka, a golf writer. Her older brother is Masumi Kindaichi, a Russian linguist.
