**生涯**
1899年に大分県で生まれる。愛知県立時習館高等学校を卒業後、東京海洋大学に通うが、脚気により退学。その後京都大学文学部に入り詩作に励む。1928年から高井三四子と結婚し、詩人として活躍する。

詩集「帆・ランプ・鴎」（1932年）、「仙境」（1948年）。短編小説集「蝙蝠館」。「月渡る」（1972年）など。晩年に「蟻のいる顔」を発表する。

**Lifetime**
Born in Oita Prefecture in 1899. After graduating from Aichi Prefectural Jishukan High School, he attended Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, but dropped out due to beriberi. After that, he entered the Faculty of Letters at Kyoto University and devoted himself to writing poetry. In 1928, he married Mishiko Takai and became active as a poet.
