Shogo Utano (born 1961) is a Japanese novelist and mystery writer. Born in Chiba Prefecture. Graduated from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture. In high school, he belonged to the manga research club. After graduating from university, while working at an editorial production company, he began writing novels. Because of his background, he is said to be a ``pupil of Shoji Shimada'' in the mystery world. His representative works include the Detective Joji Shinano series and the Closed Room Murder Game series. In addition, ``Thinking of You in the Season of Leaf Cherry Blossoms'' was selected as number one in both ``This Mystery is Amazing!'' and Top 10 Authentic Mysteries in 2004, and won the 57th Mystery Writers of Japan Award and the 4th Authentic Mystery Award.
