神奈川県横浜市中区生まれ。浅野中学校・高等学校、早稲田大学社会科学部卒業。
東芝テック、日本アイ・ビー・エムを経て、2003年にコンサルタントに転身。2002年より執筆活動を始め、2007年に初の単行本『武田家滅亡』が発売される。2010年より専業作家となる。
2023年よりBS11の歴史番組『偉人・敗北からの教訓』に解説者として出演。
