Japanese social welfare scholar, professor at Chiba University and visiting professor at Nippon Fukushi University. His degrees are Ph.D. (Medicine) and Ph.D. (Social Welfare). Katsunori Kondo is a Japanese social welfare scholar who is active as a professor at Chiba University and a visiting professor at Nippon Fukushi University. As for his academic career, after graduating from Chiba University School of Medicine, he served as a medical staff member at the Rehabilitation Department of the University of Tokyo Hospital. Afterwards, he became the head of the rehabilitation department at Funabashi Futawa Hospital, and in 1997 became an assistant professor at Nippon Fukushi University. He received his medical doctorate in 1999 and was a visiting researcher at the University of Kent at Canterbury (2000-2001), where he has been a professor since 2003.
His areas of expertise are social epidemiology, health economics and policy, and rehabilitation medicine, and he launched the Japan Gerontological Evaluation Study (JAGES) project, which aims to prevent nursing care. The theme will be social epidemiology and health disparities with an eye to regional-level factors.
