Mikio Sasaki is one of the Japanese poets. He was born on October 20, 1947 in Tenri City, Nara Prefecture, and later grew up in Fujiidera City, Osaka Prefecture.
He dropped out of the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Letters, Doshisha University and devoted himself to writing poetry. In 1970, his first collection of poems, The Whip of the Dead, was published and he made his debut in the poetry world. He was a founding coterie of the poetry magazine "Moby Dick."
In 1988, the independent production company ``Cinema Renaissance'' produced the movie ``Nemuremitsu'' starring Chuya Nakahara and Hideo Kobayashi's girlfriend Yasuko Hasegawa.
He was a visiting poet at Oakland University of Michigan, and since 1988 he has often traveled to the Himalayas, where he founded the Himalaya Bunko with Japanese and Nepali poets to introduce Japanese literature to Nepal.
