経歴
1942年（昭和17年）に生まれる。1965年に東京大学経済学部を卒業し、1969年から京都大学経済研究所助教授を務める。1971年には経済学博士の学位を取得。1980年から教授に昇進し、京都大学経済研究所所長などを歴任した。
受賞歴や肩書き
日経・経済図書文化賞（1970）、エネルギーフォーラム賞（1997）、紫綬褒章（2007）、瑞宝重光章（2019）を受賞。京都大学経済研究所所長、滋賀大学学長を務めるなどした。
