**「伝統を築いた神聖な法」**
日本語では、「宗族」と「宗家」の呼称で知られる。
中国の歴史に残る大家族制を基本とする「伝統的社会」において、家族の規律や社会規範を定めたもの。周代成立。
狭義では、家系の中心となる「宗家」を中心に祖先崇拝を行うための継承ルールが示されている。各一族には、「大宗」と呼ばれる総本家が存在し、その下には「小宗」と呼ばれる分家がいくつも存在する。どの家族でも大宗を尊敬し、共通した思想や信念を持って行動することを求められた。
大宗はその嫡子である長男が相続権を持っており、その場合は嫡出の次男以下と庶子は「別子」として新たな小宗となることが決められていた。その場合、大宗に嫡子がいなかった場合は、その場合でも家系内から最も近い血筋で相続者を選んでいた。

In a narrow sense, it indicates the rules of inheritance for worshiping ancestors centered on the ``sōke'' (sōke), the center of the family lineage. Each clan has a head family known as a ``daisou,'' and below that there are a number of branch families called ``minor sects.'' Every family was required to respect Daeshu and act with a common ideology and belief.
The eldest son of a major sect had the right to inherit, and in that case, it was decided that the second legitimate son and younger sons and illegitimate children would become ``besshi'' and become a new sho sect. In that case, if the Daeshu had no legitimate children, the heir was chosen from the closest bloodline within the family.
