Novelist, essayist. Born in Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture, lives in Nara City. He made his debut by winning the 15th Japan Fantasy Novel Award for ``Tower of the Sun''. After graduating from the Faculty of Agriculture at Kyoto University, he worked at the Kansai-kan of the National Diet Library and wrote as a part-time writer, but retired in 2010 and became a full-time writer. Although he won the 31st Japan Science Fiction Award for ``Penguin Highway,'' he was stuck with too many serials, so he took a break from writing and returned to his hometown of Nara. After that, he rewrote and published the work that had been suspended, and released ``The Triumph of Sherlock Holmes'' in 2024.
