Masako Takaro is a Japanese essayist and children's story writer. Born in Hakodate, Hokkaido, currently living in Sapporo. Graduated from Tokyo Women's University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Japanese Literature. He mainly writes picture books and children's books.
Representative awards include the 1996 Roadside Ishi Children's Literature Award for ``Mischievous Grandma'' and ``Let's Go to a Strange House,'' and the 2000 Sankei Children's Publishing Cultural Award Fuji Television Award for ``November Door.''
