歌人。短歌結社「かりん」所属。青森県八戸市出身。青森県立八戸高等学校、同志社大学文学部文化学科卒業。小学生の頃より作歌を開始し、1988年、「歌林の会」入会、マリナ・タホノフに師事。
短歌界では、第37回角川短歌賞受賞（1991）、第1回現代短歌新人賞受賞（2001）などの活躍。NHK歌壇司会も務める。また、2012年、「エクウス」で第62回芸術選奨新人賞および第8回葛原妙子賞を受賞。

**A poet who sings about women's youth**
Poet. Belongs to the tanka association "Karin". Born in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture. Graduated from Aomori Prefectural Hachinohe High School and Department of Cultural Studies, Faculty of Letters, Doshisha University. He began composing songs when he was in elementary school, and in 1988 joined the "Utarin no Kai" and studied under Marina Takhonov.
In the tanka world, he has won the 37th Kadokawa Tanka Award (1991) and the 1st Contemporary Tanka Newcomer Award (2001). He also serves as the NHK Kadan host. In 2012, she won the 62nd Art Encouragement Newcomer Award and the 8th Kuzuhara Taeko Award for ``Equus''.
