佐賀県出身。1971年に駒澤大学文学部を卒業し、同大学院法学研究科で修士課程と博士課程単位取得退学。その後、特許事務所や大学教授を歴任している。
著書や論文に「アルマ知的財産法」、「知的財産権六法」、「知的財産権事典」などがあilim。日本工業所有権法学会の理事でもある。
