あまんきみこは、日本の児童文学作家。満州出身で、幼少期から病弱だったが、民話や本を読んで空想世界を作り始める。その経験がモチーフとなる作品もある。大阪に引っ越し、大阪府立豊中高等女学校卒業後、乳癌で亡くなる母のために19歳で結婚し、その後東京に移住する。与田準一を知り、「びわの実学校」に参加して評価を受け、1968年に『車のいろは空のいろ』で第1回日本児童文学者協会新人賞と野間児童文芸推奨作品賞を受賞する。
あまんきみこには多くの受賞歴があり、日本絵本賞や産経児童出版文化賞、旺文社児童文学賞、ひろすけ童話賞など。さらに紫綬褒章も受章している。著書は500冊以上にのぼり、「車のいろは空のいろシリーズ」「ふうたの○○まつりシリーズ」などが有名なものである。

Kimiko Aman is a Japanese children's literature author. Born in Manchuria, he was sickly from childhood, but began reading folk tales and books and creating imaginary worlds. Some works are inspired by that experience. After moving to Osaka and graduating from Osaka Prefectural Toyonaka Girls' High School, she married at the age of 19 because of her mother dying of breast cancer, and then moved to Tokyo. After getting to know Junichi Yoda, he participated in the ``Biwa no Jitsu Gakko'' and was evaluated, and in 1968 won the 1st Japan Children's Literature Association's Newcomer's Award and the Noma Children's Literature Recommended Work Award for ``Kuruma no Iro wa Sora no Iro''.
