小説を書くようになったのは偶然に。一人暮らしをしていたとき、読みたい本がなくて困っていたのがきっかけ。自分でも書いてみることにしたという。その後、実家がある熊本県にもよく帰っており、そこでトークショーやサイン会を行うことも多い。
著作の多くは東京西郊外の場所を舞台にしているが、広島東洋カープのファンであることから、「野球が好きすぎて」という連作小説もある。
