**「将棋界で唯一の長命者」**
青野照市（あおの てるいち）は静岡県焼津市出身の将棋棋士。広津久雄九段門下・棋士番号114。主な実績は竜王戦1組通算6期・順位戦A級通算11期・王座戦挑戦1回・棋戦優勝4回。
研究派として知られ、A級在籍時には大山康晴、中原誠、米長邦雄、谷川浩司等としのぎを削り、さらに羽生善治、佐藤康光、森内俊之、藤井猛等（いわゆる「羽生世代」）が台頭してきた中でも健闘した。1999年度のB級1組順位戦で1位となり、2000年に10年ぶりにA級に復帰したとき、羽生世代の棋士たちがA級の大半を占める中での活躍は「中年の星」として話題となった。
桐山清澄が2022年4月27日付で引退して以降、現役最古参棋士（四段昇段が最も古い）かつ現役最年長棋士となり、1950年代生まれの棋士としては唯一、70歳を過ぎても現役を続けていたが、2024年6月13日付で引退した。

Teruichi Aono is a shogi player from Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Student of Hisao Hirotsu 9-dan, player number 114. His main accomplishments include a total of 6 seasons in the Ryuo Tournament, a total of 11 seasons in the Ranking A Class, 1 challenge in the Oza Tournament, and 4 championships in the Kisho Tournament.
Known as a researcher, he competed against the likes of Yasuharu Oyama, Makoto Nakahara, Kunio Yonenaga, and Koji Tanigawa when he was in the A class, and even with the rise of Yoshiharu Hanyu, Yasumitsu Sato, Toshiyuki Moriuchi, Takeshi Fujii, and others (the so-called ``Hanyu generation''), he did well. In 1999, he took first place in the Class B 1 rankings, and in 2000, when he returned to the A class for the first time in 10 years, he became a hot topic as a ``middle-aged star'' due to his success in the A class, where most of the A class players were from Hanyu's generation.
After Kiyosumi Kiriyama retired on April 27, 2022, he became the oldest active shogi player (oldest to be promoted to 4th dan) and the oldest active shogi player, and was the only shogi player born in the 1950s to continue playing after the age of 70, but he retired on June 13, 2024.
