A novelist from Tokyo. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Hokkaido University, he traveled around South America and was inspired to write novels. In 1990, while working at a slaughterhouse, he began writing, and in 2000, he made his debut as a novelist by winning the 32nd Shincho Newcomer's Award for ``Seikatsu no Design.''
