日本児童文芸家協会は、1955年に設立された職能団体で、子ども向けの文芸作家や関係者が集まって活動しています。理事長は高橋うららです。
1961年に社団法人になったときに浜田広介が初代会長になりました。その後、福田清人が20年以上務めました。現在の会員数は約490人です。会誌として季刊『児童文芸』を発行しています。また、日本児童文芸家協会賞などの賞を毎年表彰しています。
