Kenjiro Kimura is one of Japan's analytical chemists. After serving as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Science at the University of Tokyo, he became a professor at the University of Tokyo in 1933. In 1945, he received the Japan Academy Award for his ``Analytical and Geochemical Research on Rare Elements''. After retiring in 1956, he served as director of the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute and as president of Tokyo Women's University.
Known for his research on natural radioactivity, he studied under Niels Bohr and then went to Denmark to study chemical analysis methods for hafnium. Afterwards, they conducted joint research on artificial radioactivity, including research on the fission of thorium and the production of uranium-235. He contributed to Japan's science and technology by harmonizing theory and practice.
