学生時代はパンクバンドを組んで音楽、暴走族「ZERO」を活動し、高校を1学年で中退します。漫画を描き始めるまで8年間読んでいなかったというエピソードがあります。その後、川口海二のアシスタントとなり、1989年に読み切り『地雷震』がモーニングに掲載されて漫画家として活動を始めました。
現在は、アフタヌーン四季賞準入選から担当編集者の口添えでかわぐちのアシスタントとなり、2000年から連載を始めた『鉄腕ガール』を経て、2001年に週刊ヤングジャンプでスカイハイシリーズの連載を始めました。
ギャグ漫画家おおひなたごうと親交があります。バンドを組んで活動するほか、1998年に高橋が原作を書き、おおひなたが作画した読み切り『天使のわけまえ』をCOMIC CUEに掲載しました。

During his student days, he formed a punk band, played music, and was active in the motorcycle gang ``ZERO,'' and dropped out of high school after one year. There's an anecdote about how I hadn't read a manga for eight years before I started drawing it. After that, he became Kaiji Kawaguchi's assistant, and in 1989, his one-shot ``Jinmine-Shin'' was published in Morning, and he began his career as a manga artist.
