西岡 常一（1908 - 1995）は、法隆寺専属の宮大工。祖父西岡常吉や父西岡楢光も同寺の棟梁であった。幼少期から法隆寺現場に連れて行かれ、祖父の薫陶を受けた。生駒農学校卒業後、大工として独立し、法隆寺修理工事に関わる。戦中期には陸軍衛生軍曹として中国や満州で働き、その間にも法隆寺金堂の解体修理を続ける。
