Gege Akutami is a Japanese manga artist. His most famous work is Jujutsu Kaisen.
He has been a regular reader of Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) since he was a boy, and was especially a big fan of the long-running series BLEACH. At his new school, he had a classmate who loved Jump, and while drawing with the group, he began to realize his dream of becoming a manga artist (around 5th grade).
After that, he continued to draw manga as an amateur, but after graduating from high school, he aspired to become a professional manga artist. There were two options for submitting the work: ``Weekly Shonen Jap'' or ``Monthly Afternoon'' (Kodansha), but he chose Jump, which he was familiar with, and has continued his relationship with Shueisha ever since.
