Teru Miyamoto is a Japanese novelist. Born in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. After working at an advertising agency, he began writing novels, making his debut in 1977 with ``Mud River,'' which won the Akutagawa Prize. After that, he continued to gain acclaim with works such as ``Horagawa'' and ``Yushun.''
Teru Miyamoto has published a number of autobiographical taiga novels such as ``The Wandering Sea'', ``The Traveler of the Danube'', and ``The Comet Story'', among which his masterpieces include ``The River of Mud'', the first of the ``River Trilogy'', and ``The Firefly River'', which depict the lives of the poor in postwar Japan and were widely supported by readers.
