瀬木比呂志 / Hiroshi Segi

瀬木比呂志は、日本の民事訴訟法学者、明治大学名誉教授であり、著述家で元判事である。裁判官時代には、最高裁に2度勤務し、その他にも東京地裁や大阪地裁などを拠点として活動した。その後、2012年に明治大学法科大学院教授に転身し、民事訴訟法諸分野の講義・演習を行った。

Hiroshi Segi is a Japanese civil procedure scholar, professor emeritus at Meiji University, author, and former judge. During his time as a judge, he served twice at the Supreme Court, and was also based at the Tokyo District Court and the Osaka District Court. Later, in 2012, he became a professor at Meiji University Law School, where he gave lectures and exercises in various fields of civil procedure law.
His first paper was published in 1984 on the American juvenile justice system, and his major papers from then until 2007 were included in ``Bridging Civil Trial Practice and Theory.'' His publications include the textbooks ``Civil Preservation Law'' and ``Civil Procedure Law,'' as well as the research overview ``The Essence and Aspects of Civil Procedure.'' During his time as a judge, he wrote books such as ``Case Exercises: Civil Procedure Practice and Legal Thinking,'' ``Court of Despair,'' and ``Japanese Trials.''
Mr. Hiroshi Segi has given reports at the 50th anniversary symposium of the Japanese Society of Civil Procedure Law and the academic conference and symposium of the Japanese Society of Family Society and Law. He also won the 2nd Shiroyama Saburo Prize, and his works ``The Court of Despair'' and ``The Trial of Japan'' were praised for the author's ``powerful narrative based on participant observation.''
