He is active as a science fiction writer and is one of Japan's representative science fiction writers. His most famous works are the ``Chief Magistrate Series,'' of which ``The Halo of Vanishing'' won the Izumi Kyoka Literary Award in 1979.
He also participated in the SF doujinshi ``Uchuujin'' and published many short stories. Afterwards, he became a contract copywriter for Daiko, but began working as a full-time writer, writing over 3,000 short stories during his lifetime.
