Hiroyuki Aihara (1961-2022) was a Japanese picture book author and essayist. Born in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. Graduated from Waseda University, Faculty of Letters.
His representative series include the ``Bear's School'' series and ``Usagi-chan and the Snowman'', and these 19 works have sold over 2 million copies in total. He is also active as a character developer and producer, participating in the development of the NHK-BS character "Nanami-chan" and the official character of the YOSAKOI Soran Festival, "Yosakoi Chappi." In 2015, he established Sunnyside Co., Ltd. and became the representative director.
