Later, he participated in the conservation research of the Iriomote cat at the request of the Japan Wildlife Research Center and the Environment Agency, served as an animal commentator at Ueno Zoo, and held positions as director of the Japan Institute of Animal Science and the Japan Institute of Feline Animals.
