Akiko Yamamoto is a Japanese international political scientist. He is an associate professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of the Ryukyus, majoring in international political history. The academic societies to which he belongs include the Global Governance Society, the Japan Defense Academy, the Japanese Political Science Association, and the Japan Society for International Politics.
His books include ``Revision of the U.S.-Japan Security Treaty'' and ``Japan-U.S. Status of Forces Agreement,'' and he discusses the base issue in Okinawa Prefecture and Japan-U.S. relations. In 2020, he received the Ishibashi Tanzan Prize.
