山室信一は、日本の歴史学者・政治学者。近代日本政治史・近代法政思想連鎖史が専門。
東京大学法学部政治学科卒業後、衆議院法制局参事、東京大学社会科学研究所助手などを経て、京都大学人文科学研究所教授に昇格した。2017年に定年退任し、名誉教授となる。

**A pioneer who systematized modern Japanese political history and legal thought**
Shinichi Yamamuro is a Japanese historian and political scientist. Specializes in modern Japanese political history and the history of the chain of modern legal and political thought.
After graduating from the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Law, the University of Tokyo, he worked as a counselor in the Legislative Affairs Bureau of the House of Representatives and as an assistant at the Institute of Social Sciences, the University of Tokyo, before being promoted to professor at the Institute of Humanities, Kyoto University. He retired in 2017 and became professor emeritus.
