西村和雄（1946年10月11日 - ）は、日本の経済学者。専門は、数理経済学・複雑系経済学。京都大学名誉教授で、日本学士院会員でもありました。また、日本経済学会会長や、Econometric SocietyのFellowとしても活躍しました。
北海道札幌市出身。1970年東京大学農学部農業経済学科を卒業し、1977年にアメリカ合衆国のロチェスター大学からPh.D.（博士号）の学位を取得。同大学院経済学研究科の博士課程では、ライオネル・マッケンジー教授の指導を受けました。
京都大学経済学部教授として活躍し、2006年4月から2010年3月まで京都大学経済研究所所長を務めました。定年退官後は同志社大学経済学部客員教授となりました。2012年に日本学士院会員に選ばれました。また、神戸大学経済経営研究所グローバル金融研究部門特命教授としても活動しました。
多くの著書を残し、日本数学会出版賞を受賞しました。他にも、エックスマルセーユ第2大学名誉博士号、日経・経済図書文化賞、京都新聞大賞文化学術賞など、数々の栄誉を賜えました。さらに、紫綬褒章と瑞宝重光章を受勲しました。

**A pioneer who broke new ground in mathematical economics**
Kazuo Nishimura (born October 11, 1946) is a Japanese economist. Specializes in mathematical economics and complex systems economics. He was a professor emeritus at Kyoto University and a member of the Japan Academy. He also served as president of the Japan Economic Association and as a fellow of the Econometric Society.
Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Graduated from the Department of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tokyo in 1970, and received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Rochester in the United States in 1977. During his doctoral course at the Graduate School of Economics, he was supervised by Professor Lionel MacKenzie.
He was active as a professor at the Faculty of Economics at Kyoto University, and served as director of the Institute of Economic Research at Kyoto University from April 2006 to March 2010. After retiring, he became a visiting professor at Doshisha University's Faculty of Economics. He was elected as a member of the Japan Academy in 2012. He also served as a special professor in the Global Finance Research Department at the Institute of Economics and Business Administration, Kobe University.
He has written many books and received the Mathematical Society of Japan Publication Award. He has also received numerous other honors, including an honorary doctorate from Aix-Marseille II University, the Nikkei Economic Book Culture Award, and the Kyoto Shimbun Grand Prize Culture and Academic Award. Furthermore, he received the Medal with Purple Ribbon and the Order of the Sacred Treasure.
