Mamoru Tsuchiya is a Japanese whiskey critic and writer who is well versed in British culture and has written many books about travel, tea, and whisky, especially Scotch whisky. Born in Sado, Niigata Prefecture, graduated from the Department of Japanese Literature, Faculty of Letters, Gakushuin University. After working as a photojournalist and in the editorial department of Shinchosha's FOCUS, he moved to England in 1987 and lived there until 1993.
