Makoto Suzuki (1835-1918) was a photographer from the end of the Edo period and the Meiji period, and in 1873 he opened the Shinichi Suzuki Photo Studio on Benten Dori, Yokohama. In response to an order from the Ministry of the Imperial Household, he took photographs inside the Imperial Palace and exhibited at the first National Industrial Exhibition, winning the flower emblem.He also made and sold ceramic products depicting Japanese landscapes and customs, and achieved great success by popularizing his composite photographs of landscapes and people called Hatena Photos. She breathed new life into Japan's photography world during the Meiji era, opening a school to train female photographers.
