Tsuyoshi Gyojo, former editor-in-chief of Shinchosha and known for founding the Japan Mystery Suspense Award and the Shincho Mystery Club Award, joined Shinchosha after graduating from the Department of French Literature. He was a member of the editorial department of Novel Shincho for 29 years and served as editor-in-chief for nine years, during which time he was instrumental in nurturing many writers. Currently a professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design (currently Uryuyama Gakuen Kyoto University of Arts). He is also an advisor and selection committee member for the Kyoto Literature Prize. In 2022, he published his first novel, ``Murder in Novel Etiquette.''
