代表作は「青春デンデケデケデケ」、「松ヶ枝町サーガ」など。また、2007年に実母を主人公に据えた小説『野に咲け、あざみ』を連載した。

Sunao Ashihara is a Japanese writer born in Kanonji City, Kagawa Prefecture. When Haruki Murakami won an award during his university days, he decided to write a novel, and his first work, Susano's Autobiography, was published by Shueisha. Since then, he has published many works and won the 27th Bungei Award in 1990. Furthermore, in 1991, he received the 105th Naoki Sanjugo Award (Naoki Award). A movie of the same name was released the following year.
His representative works include ``Seishun Dendeke Deke Deke'' and ``Matsugaecho Saga.'' In 2007, she serialized a novel, ``Bloom in the Field, Thistle,'' which features her mother as the main character.
