Hidetoshi Kato is a Japanese sociologist and known as a social, ideological, and cultural critic. He studied sociology at Hitotsubashi University, joined the Society for the Study of the Science of Thought, and later studied abroad at Harvard University and the University of Chicago. During that time, I received instruction in mass social theory. In 1957, he published ``Intermediate Culture,'' and later proposed the theory of ``mass communication.'' This theory was based in social psychology and challenged the dichotomy of core and periphery. He wrote ``Sociology of Space'' and developed a method to clarify the social structure in everyday life. I have also published the books ``Human Relations'' and ``Sociology of Space.''
