Takeo Sakai is a Japanese anatomist and professor at Juntendo University School of Medicine. He was also the 12th acting president of the Japanese Society of Medical History.
His many well-known publications include ``Easy to Understand Basics and Mechanisms of Anatomy'' (2006), which introduces the basics and mechanisms of a wide variety of anatomy in an easy-to-understand manner, ``History of Views on the Human Body'' (2008), which describes the history of the human body, and ``A Complete History of Medicine: From the West to the East and Japan'' (2020), which describes the history of medicine.
He is also active as a translator, and has translated ``Why Apples Grow on Trees: A Journey through Biological Evolution'' (1987).
