Born as the eldest son of father Akira Hatoyama, a trading company employee, and mother Hisae. He lost his father when he was a freshman in high school. As a returnee who was good at English, she entered Aoyama Gakuin University's Faculty of International Politics and Economics after a year as a ronin.
After graduating from the same university (Yoko Ishikura Seminar) in 1997, he joined Mitsubishi Corporation and was involved in the media and content business for companies such as Avex and Lawson. Moved to the United States in 2006 and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 2008. In the same year, he was invited by Vice President Kunihiko Tsuji, the son of Sanrio's founder, to become COO of Sanrio's US subsidiary.
