Ensuke Konno was a Japanese folklorist and Mainichi Shimbun employee. Originally from Fukushima Prefecture, he graduated from Keio University's Faculty of Letters, Department of Japanese Literature, and studied folklore with Kunio Yanagida, Nobuhiko Sato, and Nobuo Orikuchi. He also served as a councilor of the Japan Folklore Society, and worked hard to establish the Folklore Research Institute, whose purpose was to research Japanese folk culture and to develop the ability to apply that wisdom to modern times. His works include ``A Horse Girl's Marriage Story'' and ``Ghost Stories - From the Perspective of Folklore.''
