Akinori Nosaka (1930-2015) was a Japanese novelist, singer, lyricist, entertainer, and politician who served as a member of the House of Councilors.
As a writer, he won the Naoki Prize for ``American Hijiki'' (1967), which depicts social conditions under occupation, and ``Grave of the Fireflies'' (1967), which he wrote out of atonement for his younger sister. He was also active as a broadcast writer, writing lyrics for commercial songs, and working as a columnist and commentator.
