高野和明は日本の小説家・脚本家。東京都生まれ。ロサンゼルス・シティー・カレッジ映画科中退。日本推理作家協会会員。ハリウッド映画に夢中になり、映画監督を志すようになる。その後、映画やテレビ、Vシネマの撮影現場でメイキング演出やスチルカメラなどを担当した。
脚本家として活動し始め、宮部みゆき『魔術はささやく』『火車』を読んで小説を書きたいと思い、小説を開始する。その後、初めて書いた長編は新潮ミステリー倶楽部賞と横溝正史賞に応募したが受賞できなかった。

Kazuaki Takano is a Japanese novelist and screenwriter. Born in Tokyo. Dropped out of Los Angeles City College's film department. Member of the Japan Mystery Writers Association. He became obsessed with Hollywood movies and aspired to become a film director. After that, he was in charge of behind-the-scenes production and still cameras at film, TV, and V-cinema filming sites.
He began working as a screenwriter, and after reading Miyuki Miyabe's ``Magic wa Whisper'' and ``Kasha,'' he decided he wanted to write a novel and started writing one. After that, I applied for the first full-length novel I wrote for the Shincho Mystery Club Award and the Seishi Yokomizo Award, but it did not win.
Debuting as a novelist, he won the 47th Edogawa Ranpo Prize in 2001 for his mystery novel ``The 13 Steps,'' which deals with the death penalty system. The work sold 400,000 copies, making it the fastest-selling Ranpo Award-winning work.
