**「時代の声援を呼ぶ小説家」**
久生十蘭（ひさお じゅうらん）は、日本の小説家、演出家で、北海道函館市出身。多面性のある作品を手掛け、「多面体作家」「小説の魔術師」と呼ばれました。代表作には「黄金遁走曲」や「八人の小悪魔」があります。
久生十蘭は、フランスのパリで演劇と文学を学び、帰国後、新築地劇団で舞台監督として活躍しました。また、多くの著名人との出会いをまとめた記事や、翻訳された作品もありました。1941年には、「新青年」編集長の水谷準に依頼されて日中戦争下の中支に従軍し、戦時中に脚本や演出を行いました。
戦後は「朝日新聞」に連載した小説や、ラジオドラマなどを手掛けました。1957年には食道癌により亡くなりましたが、その後も作品集の刊行が増え、新たな人気を博しました。

Juran Hisao is a Japanese novelist and director born in Hakodate, Hokkaido. He was known as a ``polyhedral writer'' and ``magician of novels'' for his multifaceted works. His representative works include ``Golden Fugue'' and ``Eight Little Devils.''
Juran Kubu studied theater and literature in Paris, France, and after returning to Japan, he worked as a stage manager at the Shintsukiji Theater Company. There were also articles summarizing encounters with many famous people and translated works. In 1941, he was asked by Jun Mizutani, the editor-in-chief of New Youth, to serve in the Chinese army during the Sino-Japanese War, where he wrote and directed scripts during the war.
After the war, he wrote novels serialized in the Asahi Shimbun and produced radio dramas. Although he died of esophageal cancer in 1957, he continued to publish more collections of his works and gained new popularity.
