Kusaka Kusaka was a Japanese naval officer. The final rank is Vice Admiral. The honor is first class. He entered the field of gunnery and held important positions including shooting instructor at gunnery school, gunnery chief on the battleship Yamashiro, and second fleet gunnery staff. He expressed strong anger at the Okita February 26 Incident in 1936. During the war, he served as Commander-in-Chief of the 11th Air Fleet and Commander-in-Chief of the Southeastern Fleet, and although he was unable to achieve his goal of recapturing Guadalcanal, he subsequently waged daily air battles from Rabaul as his base.
